All WhatsApp users have chosen contacts they frequently chat with while others remain on seen or unread. Earlier this month, WhatsApp announced four major improvements– custom chat wallpapers, additional doodle wallpapers, an updated stock wallpaper gallery, and the ability to set separate wallpapers for light and dark mode settings. As per the new settings, the wallpaper will automatically transition as your phone device setting switches from light to dark mode. Previously, when WhatsApp users selected a wallpaper, changes would be applied to all chats.
However, with the current update, WhatsApp users can set different wallpapers for separate chats. WhatsApp notes that by making your chats distinguishable, users will never worry about sending messages to the wrong chat. “We have selected new, diverse, and iconic images of nature and architecture from around the world, as well as eye-catching new designs. You can find them in the Bright and Dark albums,” WhatsApp said in a statement.
To set a custom wallpaper, users should follow these steps:
— Open WhatsApp.
— Go to the chat or the contact name where you want to set the custom background.
— Press on the three dots on the right-hand side.
— Select Wallpaper.
— Users can select wallpapers from bright, dark, solid colours and My Photos options.
— Selected the preferred wallpaper which you want on that specific chat.
— Users will see two options under Set Wallpaper, for this chat or all chats in light theme (except chats with custom themes)
— Choose the preferred option, select Okay, and then set wallpaper.
— Open WhatsApp.
— Go to the chat or contact where you want to set the custom background.
— Open contact info.
— Select Wallpaper and Sound.
— Tap on Choose a New Wallpaper.
— Select wallpaper from bright, dark, solid colours and My Photos options.
— Users can also access WhatsApp’s old wallpapers by selecting Wallpaper Archive. Scroll down to the bottom in either the bright or dark wallpapers section.
— After selecting the wallpaper, select the Set Wallpaper option.
Users can tweak the brightness of the wallpaper by adjusting brightness and preview other wallpapers by swiping left or right. WhatsApp users who are not fond of change can stick to the original doodle wallpaper or retain the same in different colours through the improved wallpapers.
